Head Start

Since its beginning in 1965 as an eight-week summer program. Head Start has grown into a comprehensive, year-round program supporting children and families. Today, it stands as one of the nation’s longest running and most impactful early childhood programs, helping children build a strong foundation for lifelong success.

At PRIDE Community Services, our Head Start program goes beyond the classroom. We provide high-quality early education alongside health, nutrition, and family support services, ensuring every child is ready to learn, grow, and thrive. Operating for more than 60 years, we are committed to strengthening families and empowering our community.

Head Start is overseen by the Office of Head Start (OHS) and operates in accordance with the Head Start Act and federal performance standards. These standards ensure a strong focus on child safety, school readiness, staff support, and comprehensive services for families, including expectant mothers.

Our program serves 160 children across Logan County through a collaborative partnership with the Logan County Board of Education and the Universal Pre-K program. We offer services to children ages 3-5 in multiple school and center-based locations, with additional support reaching even more families in our community. Through engaging learning experiences and a whole-child approach, Head Start promotes cognitive, social, and emotional development, while also connecting families to valuable resources and support systems.
