Community Services Block Grant (CSBG)
Founded in 1964 as part of the federal effort to combat poverty, our Community Action Agency receives Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funding to strengthen low‑income individuals, families, and communities. Administered through the state, CSBG provides essential support that helps reduce poverty, revitalize communities, and promote long‑term self‑sufficiency.
CSBG funding supports programs that:
- Reduce poverty and address urgent community needs
- Serve low‑income individuals, including people experiencing homelessness and older adults
- Promote employment, education, housing stability, nutrition, emergency assistance, and health
Through CSBG, we work with individuals and families in Logan and Kanawha Counties to achieve meaningful, lasting outcomes:
- Greater self‑sufficiency
- Improved living conditions
- Pride and ownership in their communities
- Strong families and support networks
Our success is strengthened through partnerships with local organizations and service providers who share our commitment to empowering communities.
Better Living Logan
Better Living Logan supports diabetic, pre‑diabetic, and liquid‑diet‑dependent individuals in Logan County who need nutritional meal replacement drinks. The program helps improve health outcomes by increasing access to nutritious options, supporting A1c reduction, enhancing food security, and encouraging self‑sufficiency.
